Chicken & Stuffing Folded Flatbread

Chicken & Stuffing Folded Flatbread Wrap

Using an easily found supermarket pack of ready folded wraps, this is a simple and quick snack meal that I’ve eaten when I’ve only had a kettle and needed to eat! It can be adapted to fit into a pitta bread, or even a sandwich.

A chicken & stuffing sandwich can be a pricey item to buy and this is a budget-busting alternative, using store cupboard basics.

Ingredients:

  • Supermarket folded wraps
  • 1 pot of chicken paste
  • ½ a pack of cheap dried stuffing mix, (half a ~85g pack)

Method:

  • Pour the half pack of stuffing mix into a mug and add boiling water to rehydrate it. Set aside for 10 minutes for the water to plump up the stuffing mix; add a further splash of water as/if required.
  • Spread the pot of chicken paste onto the flatbread – how much depends on your own choice
  • Spread the stuffing onto the other side
  • Fold your flatbread in half and enjoy!
Chicken & Stuffing Folded Flatbread Filling

Ideal if you’ve no access to a kitchen at all, or are in a hotel for work and a little short of funds to go out for food.

Costings:

  • Pack of folded flatbreads: 69p for six, 11.5p each. Aldi sell these under the Village Bakery Brand.
  • Post of supermarket own brand paste: Prices start at 27p (Aldi, Lidl, Tesco)
  • Packet of cheap sage/onion stuffing mix: These can be found starting at ~30p/box in all supermarkets.

For about £1.30 you can make 2-3-4 filled chicken & stuffing folded flatbreads (and still have a few flatbreads left over for other fillings!). Closer to 25-30p for a “sandwich”, rather than the £1.20-£1.50 for a supermarket ready made sandwich.

Cut Costs Further

To cut costs further, if you use sliced bread instead of a folded wrap, the cost is ~2p/slice instead of 11p for a folded wrap.
