Caramel Sauce Packet Mix

Caramel Sauce Packet Mix, Pearce Duffs

A great Food Cheat is to use caramel sauce packet mix; you can enjoy instant caramel sauce on your dessert, or ice cream, without having to have ingredients to hand and to take time. It’s great, hot, on a piece of microwave warmed cake too, as in the photo!

Like instant custard mix, instant caramel sauce packet mix will store in the cupboard until needed – and you don’t need to use a whole packet. Just add boiling water and mix. If kept in a cool/dry cupboard it really doesn’t go off at all.

The alternative is bottled caramel sauce, which are then sticky and a huge temptation to consume just because it is there in the fridge. A packet can be hidden in a cupboard and kept out of sight, out of mind.

Pearce Duffs Instant Caramel Sauce

I’ve currently got 2-3 packs of Pearce Duffs Instant Caramel Sauce tucked away in the cupboard, handy to pop onto a nice piece of sponge, or sponge pudding.

The whole pack makes 3/4 of a pint, 425 ml, of sauce – and I’ll typically make up about half a pack. It’s all done by eye and mixed in a mug with boiling water, to the consistency I want. Adding less water = a thicker sauce; adding more water = a runnier sauce.

Chocolate Sponge Cake & Caramel Sauce

If you’ve got some leftover sponge cake, turn it into a dessert by microwaving it for 1 minute and pouring caramel sauce over!

I’d bought a little double chocolate chip cake and had the last piece – so turned it into a hot dessert in minutes – a change from the usual plain custard!

What To Do With Leftover Toffees or Fudge!

If you’ve got some leftover toffees or fudge lurking in the cupboards, you can chop them into small pieces and add them to the instant caramel sauce just to give it a little lift.

Review of Pearce Duffs Caramel Sauce:

In my opinion, this instant caramel sauce mix could have a better flavour; it didn’t really have a very strong caramel flavour. This would benefit from melting some actual toffees or fudge in if possible.

It is, however, handy to have in the cupboard and better than nothing.

When I run out I won’t rush to replenish the stocks immediately, but I might find myself buying the odd pack here or there when I stumble across them.

I’d not rush to Tell a Friend! But I would suggest they keep their eyes out for any other brands.
