Carlos Meat Feast Pizza Review, from Aldi

Carlos Meat Feast Pizza, Generously Topped, from Aldi

I’m a huge fan of these frozen meat feast pizzas, the Carlos Generously Topped Meat Feast Pizza from Aldi. Selling for a budget busting 79p for a huge 380gram pizza they’re the best budget priced pizza I’ve found! The toppings are generous!

Topped with three meats, Smoked Pepperoni, Smoke Flavoured formed ham and Spicy Beef. There’s mozzarella cheese too.

This really can’t be beaten for size, price and taste. And, don’t forget, you can use this as a starter base for your own pizza if you want more toppings, one pizza’s more than enough for me though so I don’t add extras most of the time.

Sometimes I rearrange the meat toppings, but I do tend to just put it in the oven without re-arranging it all neatly 🙂

Saving Freezer Space

The minute I get home I always remove these pizzas from the boxes – that way I can fit four into the freezer; left in the box only three fit! If you do that, don’t forget to cut the cooking time/temperature section from the box and place it with the pizzas, just in case you’re not sure what temperature you need!

How Large are the Aldi Carlos Meat Feast Pizzas?

Many pizzas are sold by an inch size, 10″, 12″, 14″; others are just sold as pizza. So I measured one. The Aldi Carlos Meat Feast Pizza is 8½” wide.

Temperature and Time to Cook the Pizza

  • Pre-heat the oven. 180°C Fan, 200°C Electric, Gas Mark 6.
  • Cook from frozen for 20-22 minutes

Cost to Cook and Saving Money

If you’re using an electric oven it’ll be on for about 30 minutes in total, with pre-heating. I sometimes turn the oven off 5 minutes earlier too and let the residual heat continue to cook it.

At ~20p/kW tariff for electricity, this costs about 10p in electricity to cook, but ovens vary so be aware of how much your oven uses.

If you’re using gas, the cost will be negligible as they are very economical to run

Meals Under £1

These pizzas are a budget busting cheap meal costing under £1 – and very filling and tasty too. A pizza of this size is two portions, so serves two, although I’ll admit to eating a whole one myself in one sitting most of the time! The box says it Serves Two. 🙂

If you want to stretch costs serve just half a pizza, with a side portion of 15p (250 grams) of oven chips – costing just 55p for pizza and chips per person.

Or even slice it into thirds – have two thirds now and box up the final piece in the fridge for later, or lunch tomorrow, or to take to work for lunch. Pizza is nice hot or cold!

2022 Price Update:

These pizzas have been 79p all the way through to the end of March – I’ve been buying 3-4 every time I went shopping, so I’ve always got one in the freezer. I noticed at the start of April 2022 that the price is now 85p! So I checked my receipt.

  • I last bought four of these pizzas on 20 March 2022 and they’re priced at 79p on the receipt.
  • I noticed online, on the Aldi website, that these pizzas are now 85p.

The pack name has changed a little too, it no longer says “generously topped” – but the toppings still appear to be as generous as they were last year when I was buying these!

This is a 7.5% increase in price 🙁 but they are still FABULOUSLY good value for money.

  • 2021: 79p + 10p = 89p to buy and cook. Weight 380grams
  • 2022: 85p + 15p = £1 to buy and cook
  • 2022: 89p + 5p = 94p to buy and cook as I’m now using the mini oven to cook them quicker and using less energy.

The cost to cook this pizza in my electric oven has increased though – this year it’ll cost me 15p to cook, whereas last year it cost about 10p to cook it.

Overall that’s a 12.3% increase in cost to buy and cook this pizza. It’s STILL going to be my favourite cheap pizza of choice though, I might just give a little thought to not eating the whole pizza in one sitting!

August 2022 Price Update

I’m just back from the shops – bought another three of these pizzas – but I noticed the price today is now 89p! That’s up 10p in a year, which is 12.65% inflation. I did notice the box now says they weigh 385 grams, whereas before the box said 380 grams, so at least they’re not smaller.

They are still good value for money and I’ll still keep buying them!

I’ve now unpacked my mini oven, which cooks them quicker than the regular oven does; cost to cook one pizza in the mini oven is just 5p.
