4 Way Folding Wrap: Cheese & Pickle

4 Way Folding Wrap: Cheese & Pickle

For a quick and easy lunch a 4 way folding wrap can make simple sandwich ingredients feel so much more luxurious! I first spotted a small sandwich shop making their wraps some years ago and thought “that’s quick” – and so much cleaner than when I make regular sandwiches.

Great for everyday, but fab at a picnic or in your packed lunch.

4 way folding wraps are more expensive than just making a simple sandwich, but they turn a packed lunch into something that looks like you bought it in a shop!

In my opinion, this folding method gives a better outcome as more traditional folds mean there are parts where the tortilla is 3-4 layers thick and difficult to eat – with these I’ve always found it was easy to eat them.

4 Way Folding Wrap Method:

  1. Cut the wrap from the middle to one edge.
  2. Place a different filling on each quarter.
  3. Starting at one cut edge, just fold the first quarter over the second; fold that stack over the third quarter and, finally, cover the fourth quarter.

And that’s it. Away you go.

The order in which you place ingredients can make a difference to how the layers stack in the end result – but most of the time I’m never that bothered about the order of the stack.

Folding Wrap. First Quarter Over Second Quarter.

If I’ve got something “tricky” to place on the first quarter – and I don’t fancy fiddling with the fold, I simply leave the first quarter empty and put both fillings straight onto the second quarter.

There are no limits really – if you can think of it, it’ll probably fit in a treat. Regular sandwich fillings, a whole breakfast wrap, or even sweet/dessert wraps. Hot or cold.

Next time you’re reaching for the bread in the kitchen, try a wrap instead with the same fillings – it’ll taste so much better!

Most of my fillings are unspectacular, simple, everyday fillings. Nothing to write home about!

Better Than a Sandwich?

It’s better than a sandwich as you can then slide the wrap into a toasted sandwich bag and toast it hot if you want; the shape and design also mean you’re less likely to drop your filling out. It’s easier to eat than a sandwich and more ‘filling’. You feel like you’ve had a treat!

You can use any tortilla wrap, any size, with any filling you fancy. You’re going to eat it, you make up the rules.

I sometimes make a dessert wrap too, with tinned apple slices, sultanas and some cold custard!
