Did You Know You Should Freeze Your Flour?

Lock & Lock Flour Container

Did you know you should freeze your flour? It’s rarer these days, but flour can contain tiny weevils – and it’s disappointing to open the bag and see the contents moving! I’ve never actually had weevils, but that’s always given me an inbuilt fear of getting them!

Avoid weevils! Some years ago I found and bought some great flour bag sized airtight containers – which was perfect for storing flour in my cupboards, all safe and secure from any damp, or ‘intruders’!

Freeze flour to kill any weevils, or eggs, that MIGHT be in there – not to say there ever will be, but you never know!

When you think that through, you might then start to worry about what to put the bag of flour in when it’s in the freezer…. but I have the Lock & Lock Flour Box, which solves the problem as a bag bought from the supermarket can go straight into the Lock & Lock box, then straight into the freezer as they’re freezer safe. Then, just 24 hours later, remove the container from the freezer and pop it in your cupboard!

It really couldn’t be easier!

The price of flour is about to sky rocket, so you’re probably thinking now about better, longer-term storage as you buy an extra bag when you see it for sale, quick, before the price goes up!

Lock & Lock Flour Box: Fits a 1.5Kg bag of flour

I buy 1.5Kg bags of flour – and they fit straight into the Lock & Lock Flour Box. Top to bottom, with the lid on, it’s a close fit, but there’s room around the full bag still in the container – that means if you’re the sort of person who empties the bag into a container, then there’s room for the flour to take up that extra space if needed.

Safe Flour Storage, Made for the Purpose

These boxes were specially made to be the right size for flour – which is why I love them, as I had the confidence when I ordered them that I was buying the right thing.

Stackable Boxes: They’re also stackable, with a flat lid, which is always handy!

Where to Buy Lock & Lock Boxes

You can pick them up in many shops, from the Range and Dunelm, to supermarkets or kitchenware shops, but, as a leading retailer, they also sell them online at great prices, e.g. their Amazon store:
