Toad in the Hole 1 Cup Recipe, Easy!

Toad In The Hole 1 Cup Recipe

This Toad in the Hole 1 cup recipe is an easy way to make the Toad in the Hole batter if you’ve no way of weighing out the ingredients, or you want an easy recipe you can remember!

Toad in the Hole is made with a standard Yorkshire pudding batter, which is then added to sausages so they cook together in the same dish.

You just need one cup of the three essential ingredients to make the batter.  This recipe serves 1-2.

Toad in the Hole 1 Cup Recipe:

Method:

  1. Make the toad in the hole batter with 1 cup of flour, the pinch of salt and your egg – beat the egg into the flour, then add half the milk and beat it until it’s smooth. Continue to add the milk, beating as you go, until your batter is smooth.
  2. Let the batter rest in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.  If you really can’t wait, then you can use the batter immediately, it just won’t be “the best” you could’ve made!
  3. Place the sausages in an ovenproof dish – ideally they need to have space around them, so not touching.  Bake in the oven for 15 minutes or so at 200°C, turning them over half way so they’re a little browned on the outside and are pre-cooked.
Food Cheats Alternative 1: You can microwave your sausages instead if you wish, just spread them out in a microwave dish and microwave on full power (800 watts) for 2+1½ minutes.
Food Cheats Alternative 2: Buy ready cooked sausages and either microwave them for 1-2 minutes, or put them in the oven dish and bake for 5 minutes to warm them through.
  4. Pour the batter over the sausages and bake for 20-25 minutes.  You should be able to see it rising at the sides very quickly.
